Garment Care Guide | by Aisha
Your by Aisha piece is a wearable work of art. Handcrafted from premium natural materials like real sheepskin, suede, and leather, and finished with delicate hand-stitched embroidery, these garments are designed to last a lifetime.
To ensure your piece remains as pristine as the day it left our artisans' hands, please follow these essential care guidelines.
The Golden Rules of Natural Materials
-
Give It Space: Natural sheepskin and suede need to breathe. Always hang your coat or gilet on a broad, padded, or shaped wooden hanger to maintain the structure of the shoulders. Never cram it tightly into a crowded wardrobe.
-
Avoid Direct Heat: Never expose your garment to direct, intense heat sources (like radiators, fireplaces, or hair dryers). Heat will dry out natural leather and suede, causing it to stiffen or crack.
-
Embrace the Elements (Carefully): If you are caught in light rain or snow, do not panic. Simply shake off the excess water and hang the garment in a well-ventilated room to dry naturally. Never rub the wet fur or suede.
Caring for Suede & Leather Foundations
-
Suede Care: To keep the suede looking fresh and to remove surface dust, lightly brush the garment with a soft-bristled suede brush. Always brush in the same direction to maintain a smooth, uniform nap.
-
Leather Care: Smooth leather foundations can be gently wiped down with a clean, slightly damp microfibre cloth to remove dust.
-
Avoid Chemicals: Keep perfumes, hairsprays, and heavy cosmetics away from the garment, as the chemicals and oils can permanently stain natural suede and leather.
Maintaining the Sheepskin & Fur Trim
-
Fluffing the Fur: The long-pile curly sheepskin trim may flatten slightly during shipping or extended wear. Give the garment a firm, gentle shake to restore its natural volume.
-
Air It Out: To refresh the genuine sheepskin interior, hang the coat outdoors in a shaded, well-ventilated area for a few hours. The fresh air will naturally deodorize the wool.
Protecting the Hand-Stitching
-
Mind the Snags: Our vibrant embroidery is entirely hand-stitched. Be mindful of sharp jewelry, heavily textured handbags, or seatbelts that could catch and pull the delicate threads.
